Ages 12-17, In our Bloor West Village Studio:
Thursdays, 5pm – 6.30pm AND 7.30pm-9.00pm

Semester 1 (15 weeks) begins late September
Semester 2 (15 weeks) begins late January

Discover the art of film-making – and act in front of the camera, too, if you wish! Learn – or review – the basics of film making: storyboarding, directing, camera operation, audio, lighting and production design. Each hands-on film course begins with a sequence of short film projects; by rising to challenges set by the instructor and critiquing the results, students further the skills they need to create their own short film. Discover how to tell a story visually, and how to create mood and tension through your manipulation of the film medium. Rotate between production jobs as you film your movie in the Centauri studio and on location.

Semesters 1 & 2: In each semester, film students create a short film inspired by a movie genre, film director or by a concept introduced by the instructor. Later film classes in each semester may be replaced by a longer weekend film shoot if this works with student schedules. Filmmakers receive a copy of their edited movie at the end of each semester, to share with family and friends. Our year ends with a public screening of the short movies made in each semester – and a celebration!
