Costa Rica is the perfect place to unwind and get creative, inspired by the wonders of nature. At our boutique hotel just outside Quepos, you’ll be greeted by toucans in the morning and squirrel monkeys in the evening. You’ll breathe in the lush rainforest air one moment, and the soft ocean breeze the next. Work on your novel, memoir, poetry, short story or writing fragments at one of the hotel’s lookout points, on the beach, in a café at the marina, or in the little coffee shop overlooking the pool.

Our morning writing workshops include more than prompts. Each of our prompts is connected to a writing technique, and we explore a different technique each day. This means that whether you are writing for the first time, or you have finished a novel, poetry collection or memoir, you’ll take your skills to the next level. We might explore character development one day, point of view the next and plot structure on the third. There’s always something new to learn.
Spend Time Sightseeing in a Beautiful Country
Manuel Antonio National Park is only a 10 minute drive away, and we’ll hire a nature guide to tour the park with us. Go kayaking in the mangroves, hike to waterfalls, take a sunset catamaran cruise and discover a hidden beach. Whether you are visiting Costa Rica for the first time or returning to a place you love, there’s always plenty to do.
Time to Think, Relax, Rejuvenate… and Be a Writer
Joining a writing retreat is a transformative experience. For 7 magical days you slip out of your daily routine, leave behind the responsibilities of work and family, and focus just on YOU.
